Welcome to about me

Hi everyone, and welcome to Blue Eyed Blondie! My name is Madison Banks and I am just your typical 20 year old college student attending the University of Alabama. I am a Memphis native with strong southern roots. I currently am in my senior year majoring in Psychology. I am not quite sure what my exact plan is after college which is incredibly scary to a planner like me! However, I am putting all my faith in Christ and seeing where He leads!

I am a blue eyed blonde which hints the name but I'm sure you already figured that out ;). Let me start off by saying blogging is something I've always had my eye on. However, I was always to scared to take the leap of faith due to my inexperience in this area. Somewhere I found the courage to do so and let me tell you, I love doing it! It provides such a creative outlet for me to voice my opinion on things I love. Not only does it give me a creative edge, I have learned more than I ever thought I would. Don't get me wrong though, there were times when coding was way over my head and it felt hopeless but it is so well worth the time and effort that I put in daily for my readers. If even a tiny part of you wants to explore the blogging world DO IT!

Fashion

My love for clothes really began from the start. Having two big sisters, I was always surrounded by endless amounts of clothes (my poor dad lol). There is just something about finding that right outfit for whatever occasion that offers such a good feeling. I also loved how a outfit can make you feel. When you are dressed up you feel good about yourself, and there is nothing a girl cannot do when she feels confident. I frequently get asked how I define my style. If there was one word to completely sum it up, I would say Chic. To me, chic means on trend yet classy and stylish.

Building Confidence

My journey to where I am today hasn't always been perfect though. Somewhere around high school I found myself constantly comparing my life to others and felt miserable in mine. I often refer to comparison as the thief of joy because it truly is. I wanted to change this mindset of mine I just didn't know how. After months of praying and some soul searching I came to the conclusion that I am uniquely me and no one can take that away. I also learned that community trumps competition. As girls, we all know how hard we can make it for each other. So instead of tearing each other down, why not lift each other up? I really want to keep this a open conversation on Blue Eyed Blondie because this is so important. I will openly be discussing my personal struggles with comparison along with confidence.

Life in the lenses

My love of photography began completely on my own. I always preferred taking the pictures verses actually being in them. Something about capturing a moment and having it saved forever even after it has passed mesmerized me. I also love how one photo can catch pure, and raw happiness. It is very true when they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Why Authenticity?

Many people ask me why I stress authenticity so much. There is something empowering learning to love your true self. Not the version of yourself you convey to your social media followers. I am talking about the person who you are around your closest friends and family. How can you truly love yourself if you don't truly act like you in all aspects of life? Being authentic is the first step towards self love and accepting who you are.
