Hi everyone, happy Friday! This weekend Hunter and I finally decided to get our engagement pictures done! This was easily one of the things that I was most excited about because at the end of the day pictures are the only thing you have to capture these sweet times! Also, can you guys believe we only have five months until we say “I do.” Yes people FIVE months!!!! This gal is freaking out considering I have so much left to do! Anyways, I hope these pictures + my outfit give you a little inspiration for your engagement photos! Continue reading if you want to know how to get the MOST out of your engagement photos.
PINTEREST: Y’all, I really can’t stress this enough. Finding what pictures ideas you love + outfits is perfect for all things Pinterest. It also might help you decide on what kind of feel you want your shoot to go in. Meaning a downtown/city or carefree field photoshoot! Basically, Pinterest will be your BFF throughout the entire wedding process but more so during engagement photos.
DIY: Yes, we did our photoshoot ourselves, well kinda sort of! Photography one of the most expensive parts of a wedding, so we decided to have a family friend with little to no photography experience take our engagement photos & then I edited them myself! I used Adobe Lightroom which is what I use to edit all my photos. Though our pictures turned out AMAZING, I would NOT recommend this for your actual wedding!
WHAT TO WEAR: Ah, this is the most important part!!!! Well to me anyway (lol). I decided to wear a Show Me Your Mumu dress which I am OBSESSED with. When I first ordered it I was like what the heck this thing is not cute. To make it a show stopper, you really have to dress it up with accessories like a flower crown, long necklace, etc. Also, I decided not to wear white. My colors for the wedding are pastel blue, white, grey, and deep green. I really wanted to bring the blue out more by wearing it in my engagement photos. I absolutely love the blue that the Show Me Your Mumu dress came in. However, don’t fret! Hunter & I plan to do a downtown shoot in which I will wear white so stay tuned for that! You can shop my dress: HERE
TIME OF THE DAY: I feel like this is a very important step that a lot of people don’t think about. We took our photos around 5 and I honestly wouldn’t have done them any earlier unless it was early in the morning! Sunset and sunrise are the best time to shoot in my opinion!
DETAILS: As you will see in the photos, I have a fun flower crown! I was dead set on wearing one at the wedding until I went in a completely different direction with my dress (you’ll see July 21st lol). So I really wanted to wear one for the shoot. Make sure you pick the flower crown up the day of if it is real flowers. We picked mine up about an hour before and tiny flowers were going EVERYWHERE! Secondly, one interesting thing I did was schedule my bridal hair trial the same day. Meaning I got a trial of how I was going to wear my hair the same day as I got the photos taken. She then styled it differently for the photos! It was just a nice perk to have my hair looking all nice! Don’t worry, my hair will not look like this on our wedding day, you’ll have to wait to see the July 21st too!
